A different way to explore underwater
A sea scooter is a handheld device that helps propel you through the water while snorkeling. The experience includes an orientation before the open-water session. You still need to be able to swim and follow the guide's instructions. Tell us whether you want the sea scooter option or regular snorkeling so the right equipment and places can be checked.
The coast and marine life
The provider operates around the Catalina Islands, Brumel and Potrero Bay, with the actual snorkeling sites chosen for the outing and conditions. Photos in this gallery were shared by Freedive Costa Rica and show examples of their marine encounters. They are not a promise of seeing turtles, rays or any particular animal. Water visibility, weather and wildlife vary.
Meeting in Tamarindo, Departing from Flamingo
The current supplier information lists a meeting at the Freedive Costa Rica office in Plaza Conchal, Tamarindo, with transport from that office to the marina included. Confirm your exact meeting time and arrangements in the quotation, especially if you are staying closer to Flamingo. This is a half-day boat outing; the final departure and return details must be confirmed for your date.
Who can join?
Participants must be able to swim. The operator currently lists a minimum age of 12 for the sea scooter option, parental consent for minors and an accompanying responsible adult for children under 14. Regular snorkeling is a different option and suitability should be checked for the individual child. Share ages when enquiring so the provider can confirm an appropriate arrangement.
Shared trips and private requests
For a shared snorkeling outing, the provider requires at least three participants to organise the trip. A smaller party may be able to join an existing group when space is available. Private boat requests can also be checked. Snorkeling equipment, fruit and drinks are listed in the current supplier information; your final quotation will confirm the exact inclusions and transport arrangement.
Booking your outing
Send your preferred date, number of participants and whether you want sea scooters. We check the available arrangement before you pay. The provider requests full payment to reserve and states that cancellation at least 72 hours before the activity is refundable. Review the payment, cancellation and weather arrangements in your booking confirmation. We quote current prices individually rather than publishing a fixed rate.

Do I need scuba certification?
This is a snorkeling outing. You must be able to swim; confirm suitability with the provider if you have any participation concerns.
Can children use a sea scooter?

Can two people join a shared trip?
Ask whether an existing group has space. Organising a shared snorkeling departure requires at least three participants.
Will we see turtles or rays?
